Catalogue of the first exhibition to focus exclusively on the complex relationships between photography, film, drawing, printmaking, and painting that were so central to Sheeler's art.
Also featured is Manhatta (1920), a collaboration between Sheeler and Paul Strand that is regarded as the first avant-garde city film made in the United States.
The exhibition will be displayed in Washington at the National Gallery of Art (May 7August 27, 2006), at The Art Institute of Chicago (October 7, 2006January 7, 2007) and at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, M.H. de Young Memorial Museum (February 10May 6, 2007).
